Task 2a Game Idea

GAME DESIGNER NAME:  Thomas Gaynor
Netherworld Beasts
Terrain:
An artificial island city with a population of 3000 but now all the 3000  have disappeared and anyone who has gone inside the city limits have no longer returned. The artificial island would be quite futuristic as it is a city known for the technological advances and being ahead of the world, it is mostly comprised of scientists
Above is a picture of a artificial island called Palm Islands which is on the coast of Dubai, in United Arab Emirates.
Next is a fake set of artificail island that not only exist on the sea but underneath it as well.
Next is a much smaller island that belongs just underneath the surface of the water.
This next picture has a few artificial islands that don't have that interesting of a design but i believe that they could inspire me such as the fact that one of them is a spiral and it is incomplete.

Architecture:
On the outside there are destroyed buildings with smashed glass on the floor, claw marks on the walls and parts of the wall where a great impact has hit it. Cars that have been destroyed and blood but only rarely but increasingly as you progress further.


Once you get inside the buildings you will see things like laptops with emails on the machines and a lack of power being unable to power anything on the computers and lights. You are no longer able to contact anyone outside the city and the UCC haven’t returned from there scouting mission so you can no longer contact them and can’t escape so you go inside eventually you would find an increasing amount of shells on the floor leading up to the inevitable demise of the UCC.
When it came to architecture i chose to create a more futuristic design. the above one is plain but is clearly not low tech.
this next one is less technological and a bit more homely. what i liked about this one was the fact that it had books which would fit into a scientists home.
The final pone was similar to the first as the design was simple and that simplistic feeling showed it was hi-tech with screens implanted on the wall.

Much further inside you would be able to go into the secret labs where you would find Hi-tech machines and Creation Pods/Tubes where experimentation has taken place to create something and you also find weapons and plans to how to stop what has happened.
The first pic i got was of a secret lab where it had a lot hi-tech and futuristic and mysterious devices.
Since the enemies in my game will be artificilal i needed these testubes like holders that they bwould be created in.

I got these ideas from Mewtwo from Pokemon who was also artificial. He escaped after breaking his container and turned on those who made him.

Objects:
On the outer all you can find is cloth to indicate what has happened once you get inside you will find empty rounds on the floor. Someplaces will be locked and will have to be unlocked using items found later on in the game such as a key or a crowbar.
Above is a laptop which is where you will be able to read files to uncover some story.
This filing cabinet is similar to the laptop in the fact that it will hold files to read.
These bullets will be signs to show that people with guns were here and now they're dead and since you don't have a gun this will make you feel more helpless

Characters:
You are a military scientist and along with a squad from the UCC (Unidentified Creature Corps) have went on a research mission to an artificial island city whose inhabitants have mysteriously disappeared, everyone who has went to this city has no longer come back so the military designated it a no go zone until it has been checked out. When they got there they knew something had happened because of the destruction the city was now in. 

You are Orpheus a scientist that studies unknown creatures and analysing there DNA to understand them.



Non-playing characters (NPC):
Monsters/Chimera. The enemies that will appear are chimeras, artificial animals that were created deep within the city but after creating one that was too powerful and too intelligent they escaped.

Chimera 1 –  a human sized creature with huge claws and covered in hair human in posture but acts more like a wild and crazy bear



Chimera 2 – A snake like creature with multiple heads created to make a creature that can communicate and work together in a way that makes it increasingly dangerous.

These pictures are based off of Yamata no Orochi from Japanese folklore

Chimera 3 – huge chimera with features from multiple dinosaurs with huge wings making it a colossal dragon. The wings on this create huge pressures that makes you feel like youre being crushed and the fire that it breathes can belt even steel girders.



Chimera Boss – Human + Dragon/Draconic Creature/Lizard (Heat proof creature with incredible intelligence with a great hate for the humans who experimented on it.). this creature has the intelligence of a human or even above and the destructive capability to slaughter humans with ease.




Feedback:
There won’t be much of a feedback function since it will be mostly a survival horror game which is single player the only aspects that could be used for feedback would be telling you how many files you have found throughout the game. All other feedback would be narrative where the scientist will analyse what he sees around him and tries to think about what has happened.


Interface:
The interface will only have buttons that will appear when you go up to something to hide or when there is files to read. The mechanics will involve hiding from enemies and digging around for the information you need to survive and find a way back home


Perspectives:
2/2.5D Game where you traverse the cities and find your way down into secret labs beneath but I was open to also to a 3D first person game. This game will be a crossbreed of adventure, mystery and horror as you traverse the seemingly hostile and unknown lands where you can not do anything to win. I would probably go with a 2 dimensional perspective.




Full-Motion Video (FMV):
The only full motion video (FMV) that I would have in my game would be an opening cutscene or something to be used as a trailer or maybe that how I would show off the ending of the game because everything would have been leading up to that point.
